- Sadbhavana Diwas is Observed annually to commemorate the birth anniversary of former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
- World Mosquito Day internationally signifies the fight against mosquito-borne diseases. In 1897, Sir Ronald Ross discovered the cause of transmission of malaria. Malaria is caused by female mosquitoes transmit malaria.

- Manipuri Language Day is celebrated on August 20. This day celebrates the inclusion of Meitei (Manipuri) language in India’s Eighth Schedule (as an official language) in 1992.
- Enemy Property Act, 1968 was enacted on 20th August 1968, which allows the Government of India to take control of properties belonging to individuals who migrated to China or Pakistan after the war of 1965.
